Abstract
In this document is described, in an analytical and gra-phical way, the double pendulum; because of the evolu-tion of its movement in a period of time. Besides, in this analysis are used some theoretical and conceptual tools of Hamiltonian mechanics and analytic geometry. Likewise, there are established representations of movement, pro-perties and system settings. Then, it is necessary to deter-minate the mechanical energy through the summation of all the work involved in the configurational changes of the movement. Those in order to obtain the mechanical state of the system – taking into account the changes, it could have throughout the time. On the other hand, two perspectives were considered for this system description. First, conservative description. In that aspect the energy of the system keeps steady. Second, dissipative description. In other words, the degradation of the energy in the sys-tem. Also, the second perspective provides the possibility to study the system behavior even when this change. For that reason, the last approach is preferred.
