La Ciudad ha representado el escenario de la constante lucha de los grupos sociales y las formas de adaptación a los territorios. Las costumbres, hábitos y construcciones de sen-tido, es decir, todo el conjunto de definiciones, conceptos e imaginarios que se constituyen al-rededor de los espacios, han permitido el forta-lecimiento de los lazos con el pasado remoto y cercano. Las huellas de este legado se hallan en el patrimonio y son legitimadas por la memo-ria; sin embargo, en el contexto de la acción y la interpretación, el patrimonio, el monumento y la historia local son resignificadas por lo que se ha denominado la Cultura Popular. El pre-sente texto pone sobre la mesa estos elementos para mirar las concepciones no sólo de la apro-piación de lo urbano y lo patrimonial, sino la existencia de las tensiones y sinergias entre la cultura popular y la cultura dominante.
Abstract
The city has been the scenario of constant social struggles and different forms of territory adaptation. Customs, habits and meaning making, that is to say, all the definitions, images and concepts that take place around urban spaces, have allowed the strengthening of the bonds between present and remote and near past times. The traces of this legacy can be found in the patrimony and are legitimized by memory. Nevertheless, in the context of action and interpretation processes, concepts such as patrimony, city monuments and local history have been given new meanings by what has been called the Popular Culture Movement. This paper discusses these elements to analyze conceptions of urban appropriation and patrimony. The tensions and synergies between the popular culture and the dominant culture are also considered.
