El presente artículo realiza un acercamiento a la deno-minada cotidianidad religiosa de la gente que fue pro-tagonista de las formas de vivir la fe en el mundo colo-nial en Santiago de Cali (1700 – 1750. Se muestra, ini-cialmente, cómo las formas de expresión religiosa que vivía dicha población trasgredían constantemente la oficialidad y ortodoxia católica, debido a los desorde-nes constantes, desobediencias y escándalos públi-cos que eran protagonizados por los libres de todos los colores que habitaban la ciudad, al realizar las fies-tas y procesiones con constante bullicio, licor y alga-zara, y sin seguir la correcta doctrina cristiana. Además se presenta y relata una aparición milagrosa muestra la importancia del milagro como mecanismo de control social en el mundo colonial.
Abstract
This article develops an approach to the so-called reli-gious daily life of the town of Santiago de Cali in the first half of the eighteenth century and the spaces, practi-ces in that area people who were protagonists of the ways of living the faith in the colonial world. It initially shows how the forms of religious expression that lived constantly transgressed said town officers and Catholic orthodoxy, due to constant disorder, disobedience and public scandals that were led by the free of all colors who inhabited the city, to make the holidays and pro-cessions with constant noise, liquor and merriment, and without following the proper Christian doctrine. It also presents and describes a miraculous apparition which in itself shows the importance of the miracle as a mecha-nism of social control in the colonial world
